Kill Your iPhone 4 Signal – The Easy Way

Well everybody in the tech world has reported this story so I guess I have to as well. Apparently the iPhone 4 will lose its connection both cellular and cellular data when using the device with your left hand, no Apple does not hate you left-handed people. With Apple’s new antenna design, the metal band that is being used as the antenna must be kept separate from the WiFi/Bluetooth band and the 3G/Cellular band. What happens is when using the device left-handed you bridge the connection causing interference and smothering out the connection. This does not happen with everyone or every device. The problem can be solved by “changing hands” (Apple email) or with the purchase of the heavily pushed $30 “bumper” case. Since the case was so heavily pushed and solves the problem, could it be that Apple new of the problem even before the keynote, and decided not to actually fix the device? Sounds that way don’t it? Now I did not have this problem in store but the in store connection was junk anyway so I may have and not noticed. We will keep an eye on this and keep you up to date.

Edit: A follow-up from Engadget on the connection issues this time from someone in the know, could it possibly be fixed and is a manufacturing problem and not design? Spencer Webb from AntennaSys thinks so.
Oh and remember if you are holding it “right” and still drop call’s blame AT&T (I still don’t like those guy’s).
